Operate W2XRX via the Internet?
K2OID, W2NED, and myself (K2AS) met the other day and discussed the status of the club. Safe to say, activity has been limited to Field Day and some Foxhunts. We talked about many things, including the lack of use of our club station. Ned came up with the idea of operating the club station remotely. I've being doing some legwork to see what we would need to do to gain internet access and some other things. In the meantime, take a look at this video which does a nice job explaining how it would work.
Site Upgrade
I upgraded the website today (3/30) to use a later version of Drupal (Content Management System). Unfortunately there are a few bugs I haven't figured out yet. Such as, no photos are showing up. I'm working on it, but you may see that and some other occasional error messages until I have time to work through them.

Club Activity
Looking for ideas on how to increase club activity. We still have a Fox Hunt or two a year, and participate in Field Day. But we have been lacking attendance when there have been meetings, and no one seems to be willing to take on any leadership positions in the club.
Any ideas would be welcome.
New Field Day Photos Added
Thanks to Mike Ishler, we have some Field Day Photos added to the XARC Photos section. They are from 2003 - 2008.
Why I'm Off Air
I have been off the air for several months, mostly from procrastination. I've had plans to do some painting and building a new operating station desk, but never get around to it. Hopefully it is a project I can complete this winter, since propagation should be on the upswing soon.
I also have had thoughts about putting up an end-fed zepp and possibly a double-extended zepp for 20 meters. It would be easier to do the end-fed, so I might get to it before the snow flies.
Spring 2008 Foxhunt Results
XARC held it's Spring 2008 Foxhunt on May 10th during National Foxhunt
Weekend. Jon, N2JAC, and Bob were the huntmasters. Four teams started
in Mendon Ponds Park at the top of the sledding hill. We enjoyed a
beautiful sunny day as our hunters headed west from the park in search
of the elusive fox signal.
The main fox was on Fishell Rd. near rte 390 in Rush. The fox was
hidden on the Lehigh Valley Trail, a former railroad line that's now a
linear park. The second fox was hidden a mile west down the same
Pete Secrist meeting at Dayton 2008
While at Dayton this past week I bumped into Pete Secrist. Pete was one of the two founding fathers of the XARC. I was talking to an ARRL rep and I told the rep I was from Rochester New York. A fella in a 3 wheeled scooter passing by heard me say Rochester. He did not recognize me and I did no recognize him but he stopped and he did recognize Judy (N2KXS). Judy reminded Pete who I was and we spent the next 20 minutes or so catching up. It was just great to see Pete!
