Field Day Site Choosen

Here is the note from Bob Karz:

2010 Field Day Site...

Since the XRA facility has been sold to the town of Webster, we are unable to operate from there without obtaining liability insurance -- $500 for a weekend event.

So, we have been exploring alternatives. One attractive alternative is a farm house on 50 acres of land which is available to XARC due to the generosity of Bob's, K2OID, brother's law partner.

Bob and I took a ride out to the farm to explore its posibilities and returned very encouraged!

Spring 2010 Fox Hunt

The Spring 2010 fox hunt went very well! Five teams with 11 participants had a challenging time searching for the fox which was residing at the intersection of the Irondequoit Creek and the Erie Canal near Bushnell's Basin. Three teams found the fox. All had a successful lunch!

March RARA Meeting

"Digital Modes - A primer and an update”

March 5th, 2010  7:30 PM - Henrietta Fire Hall, 3129 E. Henrietta Rd.

Whether you're new to digital modes (RTTY, PSK, etc...) or a seasoned veteran, you won't want to miss this presentation by Ross Mazzola, KC2LOC, covering basic how to get started in digital modes up to operating tips and tricks for increased proficiency and Q count.

Club Station Mothballed

If you don't already know, our club station was forced out of it's long time location due to the sale of the building by Xerox.  Thanks to the efforts of many club members, the antennas were taken down and disassembled on a cold snowy February day, the station equipment was packed up, and all was moved to a safe location for storage.
XARC is alive and well however.  We will have a meeting April 6 (location TBD), a Foxhunt in May, and Field Day in June.
